This term usually refers to the time of year when plants can grow and produce the best crops and highest yield, provided the growing conditions are at their best. The conditions, to name a few, include the seeds, soil, nutrients, weather, and proper maintenance.
I would like to present the idea of a "Growing Season" to describe the periods of personal, academic, physical, social, and emotional stressors students are experiencing during the "Wonder Years". I call them the "Wonder Years" because we often "wonder" what's happening during this part of the life cycle. This analogy is not supported by a scientific theory as far as I know; however I feel there is an interesting, as well as a surprising comparison between plant life and humans. This post will introduce a series on "Life After High School" with emphasis on how parents can be aware of the many options that are available for students following graduation: the more familiar ones such as work, college, vocational training, military, internships, apprenticeship...and new to the list, the option of entrepreneurship, which is owning a small business. Please share if you have other ideas for this time between school(secondary) and the world of work...better know as the "GAP" or Gap Year if there is the absence of quality activity. "Go Beyond the Narrative" Dragonflies are the keepers of dreams, the energy within that sees all of our true potential and ability.
